Good afternoon all,

I have recently replaced my wiper park switch as the wipers weren’t parking. Now the wipers will not stop at all. I have tried all different wiring configurations and even tried putting the old switch back in but I am having the same issue.

Has anyone had this before or know where I could start??

Cheers.

Check for damage in the back of the drive sprocket inside the wiper gearbox

I've had it previously where the park switch had worn a groove in the ramp/ trigger area for the switch. I've also had it where the little clip that holds the switch in position gets weak and let's the switch sit at the wrong angle (a small log roll of insulation tape and a carefully placed cable tie fixed that one)

Regards

Does it have any effect, i.e. slowing the rate?

Using a meter, or test light, you can check the switch is does its thing while the wipers are running.

The green wire is the supply to the park switch. It connects to the light green/brown so the motor keeps running to the park position (the stalk's off position connects it to the low speed motor supply). When the wipers are at the bottom, the park switch disconnects the supply and connects the LtGn/bN to earth. This equalises any voltage potential across the motor so it stops dead.

Stop the wipers with the ignition key and you should find continuity between G & LG/N when they're up the screen that changes to continuity between LG/N & earth when they're parked. Double check it's the park switch doing the earthing, not just via the motor, by moving the stalk to on (ignition still off).

Odds on it's a failure to physically operate the park switch, but it could be a poor earth.

Thanks for all the information.

I’m going to have a look at it Monday as I’m off work so will let you all know how I get on. 👍🏻👍🏻
