That's a shame to hear about the poor soundproofing Mike.
I have come across that type before but fortunately, it was being removed and binned.
I recently used the optimise carpet set which really was very good. It had the soundproofing incorporated into the carpet itself and did a wonderful job of keeping interior noise right down.

Maybe they can supply just the soundproofing part so it could be used under the mpi moulded carpet?
Worth an ask...
The only thing with it is its so thick that it was initially difficult to lock down the front seats but after sitting in the seats , the hoops on the rear of the bottom frame made its shape into the carpet and then they operated as normal.
