I'm so glad you like it Mike. It really is a lovely example.

I really hope you get a lot of pleasure driving it as I have had restoring it.

Cheers

I wonder if the poster sees that a lot of your mini restorations only have subtle improvements if any or like mine pretty much standard as it left the factory.

Yeah thats pretty much what I was getting at.You see a lot of stuff that has various different mods, but I like that a lot of your work is standard

Thanks wingnut.

I understand now.

I must admit that I do really enjoy the standard restorations. Keeping the cars as they were or restoring them back to how they were is very satisfying.

But then there is something pleasing to me to be able to take a standard car or a wreck, listen to the customers dreams about what they invisage the car to be and then turning those dreams into a reality.

I love it.

Cheers

This mini has began it's journey north now.

That journey started yesterday evening at the red funnel terminal in East cowes.

And then onto the ferry to Southampton.

And then safely off the other side and onto the trailer where it then headed to overnight storage.

It will now be on a motorway somewhere heading home!

Not much happened to the car recently been busy with other projects in the home.

The car has been out a few times when the weather was dry.

As I had a few hours this afternoon and the weather is fine I thought I would do some preliminary test fitting of the MPi carpet and sound proofing I bought in the recent Minispares sale.

Disappointment would be a word I would use.

I opened the carpet to find boot footprints on the drivers side, a lot of them, and an excessive amount of debris. These all vacuumed up easily and with close inspection the carpet doesn't look like it has been used.Leaves a nasty taste though,

The sound proofing though was the biggest disappointment. I think this is Minispares part number CK907 and comes with the carpet.

I wasn't expecting a perfect fit but the two footwell pieces are way out. The rear one piece is a good fit but the seatbelt bolt holes are in the wrong place. Perhaps MPI seatbelts are in a diifferent position. Fair enough.

My main criticism is the stuff it is made from. Looks like felt or jute but this stuff sheds like the devil and is downright unpleasant.

This stuff might have been ok in the 50's not acceptable now and I think it's unusable.

I assume this stuff is supplied by Newton Commercial, well it's a poor show.

I intend contacting Minispares and see what they have to say but as I haven't tried test fitting the carpet yet I think I'd better wait to see how that turns out.

I too have bought the Mini Spare sound proofing set and do agree it isn't up to their normal standards. The other problem with the material is it will hold moisture rather than repel it, which isn't great with Minis ability to rust being legendary! I can't comment on fit as it was a few years back and I can't remember but I do seem to remember taking scissors to it. Your car look great though.
