I've reunited the engine with the car once more.
It was quite tricky getting it in being an auto but I got there in the end.
Next up is the wiring.
And the the rest of the interior that I have here went in minus the drivers seat for now.
Then I refitted the ancillaries to the engine and engine bay
Then fitted the bonnet
With the bonnet on, I could fit and align the front grille
Next up was to polish and fit the doors
And then I refilled all the fluids and fired it up for the first time which went fine
Pretty much there now.
Cheers

Looks amazing.
Seeing the bonnet on and perfectly aligned and the Rover Badge just finishes it off.
Have you been able to drive it yet Ben?
Incidentally, when are going to see any action on the 'hot pink mini'?

It has come together really nicely. The colour looks amazing and the chrome finishes it all of perfectly.
Just need to wait for the suspension to finish settling.
I haven't driven it yet as time ran out yesterday and I've been on another job today. Plan is to do that once the mot has been carried out next week.
The pink mini is still waiting. Trouble is, it needs to go on the rotisserie to do the next lot of work but that takes up such a lot of space I can't do it until things quieten down.
Cheers

Have you got a link to the rivnuts you used for the arches? I'm having no luck with mine!

I've now finished building this one up.
The last bit to do was the bootlid.
And then the numberplate and badges
Whilst moving the car around, it developed an exhaust blow on the manifold to downpipe join which started off as I slight buzz but quickly developed into sounding like a banger racing car.
To fix this, I had to strip some stuff back off
But I've now managed to seal it. I think the issue was the bracket that holds the downpipe to the back of the gearbox being misshapen causing the exhaust to move slightly.
I'll remedy that.
The other teething problem was an oil leak so once the grille was removed, it was clear it was weeping from the oil filter housing end bolt so i nipped that up quarter of a turn and it's stopped.
Just the handbrake to adjust now and the pin stripe to add and it's done.
Then a clean and mot.
Cheers.

The back looks great, the body colour light housing is a big improvement.
Even the number plate is exactly how I wanted it.
I plan on attending some local classic car shows in it if not necessarily as an exhibit. The people there and who also lurk on here and see 'Mill Road Garage' will know where the car was restored.

Yes, I'm really looking forward to it. I can't wait to seeing it reversing off the car transporter.
A few of my neighbours have also asked several times when it is coming back.

Since the last update, I put it in for an MOT which it failed on a wheel bearing and emissions.
These were swiftly resolved but the exhaust began to blow again. It was noted that the downpipe to car section wasn't quite the right shape so this was remedied with the use of a flexible joint and its now perfect.
With the MOT passed, I applied the side stripes and got it all cleaned and polished ready for the road test.
And then had a very pleasant 90 minute test drive stopping along the way for a few photos.
So that's it, done.
It will be heading back up country to Mike next Tuesday
Thanks everyone for the comments and for looking in and merry Christmas to all.
Cheers.

What can I say, it looks incredible.
The images look like they have come from a Rover sales brochure, all that's missing is the list of specifications, the fuel consumption figures and the usual guff you get at the back of a brochure that few people ever read.
I'm well pleased and looking forward to Tuesday. The car was delivered to it's first owner on 24th December 1994 (I like to think it was a Christmas present from her husband). 27 years later almost to the day I get it back.
I have been busy today clearing the Mini's garage space of all the stuff that has magically taken its place in its absence including a nest of mice.
