Timings really haven't worked out this week.
I've been waiting for the missing floor plugs to arrive before I can continue and they were promised yesterday having paid for express delivery.
I phoned the supplier today to chase the order to fins they had forgotten to dispatch.
They are now arriving tomorrow.... not a happy bunny
I have been getting on with other bits instead whilst I wait.
Namely sandblasting various small parts to paint
Cheers

Hi Ben,
This is a good update.
Small but important bits.
I remember painting those shock absorber top mounts with smooth Hammerite.
Makes my efforts look a bit carp.

Finally the floor bungs showed up so I got them fitted and sheeted up
And then degreased the underside ready to paint.
And then painted

Getting ready to paint the inside this afternoon

The trouble with dark colours is that painting the inside of a shell with them takes an age.
With an air fed mask on and the fog created due to decreased airflow, its like painting with your eyes closed!
It took approx 90 mins to base the inside of the shell and get good coverage.
But we got there in the end.

A great way to end a week Ben, seeing that.
Seems a shame to cover the floor up with a carpet!

Ben always wondered how easy/ hard is it to do the inside I assume there is a knack to it?
Nothing like seeing the paint start going down after all the work gone into it previous.
I know I've made the right decision to book mine in with you,

I'd say the trickiest areas are the front bulkhead, the rear companion boxes and the area beneath the rear seat.
The main issue is always the gun with a pot of paint on top and an air line and coupling beneath.
You have to constantly be aware of that so you don't knock against the wet paint!
Base coat and clear takes longer but I find is a bit easier as you can get the colour everywhere without too much build up which usually would result in runs when using direct gloss.
Using a slow hardener in the clear makes life easier too as you can stop frequently to clear the fog without ending up with dry edges. Plus any fog and overspray melts back in nicely rather than sitting on top like you get with a fast hardener.
Cheers

Next on the agenda is to finish the final primer sanding and seal up the external joins
Then mask up to paint the roof and engine bay
Then back mask the roof and engine bay in order to paint the rest of the shell
Cheers

Can't stop looking at these images.
The finish is amazing and such depth to the clearcoat.
Would the original finish have been clear over basecoat or just a gloss paint Ben?

Cheers Mike.
The original finish would have been clear over base but only the minimum amount to get a reasonable finish.
I'm flatting it all down today for machine polishing so it will look better when done.
