Hi Guru's

I'm putting in a 1293 Minispares engine with their EVO1 cam and MSE4 head with a CSI dizzy (59D4 with vac adance).  The dizzy has 16 different advance curves.

Would anyone know what is the best curve to go with the EVO1 cam and what static ignition should be set at?

I'm a little confused.  According to the CSI instructions you can turn the dizzy clockwise until the blue led lights continuously which shows the  correct static timing point.  Is this correct, it sounds a bit like to much white mans magic to me.

Thanks Brad

Not knowing too much about this dissy there is more to it than twisting randomly until the light glows.Google setting timing, you will not be the first.Steve..

item 3 in the fitting instructions says the static timing should be set to 10o BTDC before installing the CSI unit.  no magic involved  ;D

This distributor sets the static timing using a LED light dependent on the curve as it has multiple settings, so you do need to twist it until the light glows to set the static timing correctly as per the instructions. It is the then checked with a strobe light once the correct curve has been selected.

If you don’t know which curve you are going to run I would recommend getting it set up at a rolling road to make sure that there is no pinking when running, you can start on setting one and adjust to a setting that gets it running ok but to get the most from it and to have the best reliability I would take it to a rolling road

You did not make any mention of the engine position, that removes the magic element.Sticking a timing light on is cheap confirmation.Steve..

As KTS said above, the instructions state that the timing should be set to 0  degrees @ TDC prior to removing the old dizzy.  When the CSI is fitted and turned clockwise the white mans magic makes the blue light flash continously and static timing is 10 degrees, dead simples.

Suggest curve 11 or 13 with your spec and see what you think.  I use 13 on mine (similar build to you) and another menber, Osgodd recently said his goes like a stabbed rat using 11.

Thanks Sky Gipsy,

I'll run with curve 13 as per your recommendation's until I can take it somewhere to fine tune it for me.

Turning the dizzy 'til the blue light comes on mimics the procedure of hooking up a 12v light to the points, a simple way to time the ignition when set at the correct static position.  Use a strobe to fine tune.  On my CSI, the number of times the blue light flashes indicates the selected curve;  5 flashes = curve #5, etc.
