Welcome to SMAC
I started Swindon Mini Associates Club in Y2K with the help of a number of customers of a local mini specialist. The first meeting was attended by myself and 6 others. Since then, as with all clubs we have had a varying number of members ranging from the initial 6 to over 60 members. we currently have 26 paid up members and have a number of new people interested in the club.
The Name SMAC was chosen by majority vote as we wanted anyone with an interest in mini's to be able to join, even if they weren't a mini owner! I also wanted a club that was run by the members rather than the committee so we suggest events to attend to members but should they wish to attend different ones then we will endevour to get club stands at those events! You also do not have to live in Swindon to join, we have a number of members from all over the country who met us at events and asked to join.
We attend all the Major events thoughout the year with clubstands arranged at them (tickets purchased by members ahead of the event at reduced prices) and are not afraid to make fools of ourselves (those of you who have seen us at events know what I'm talking about)!! and we also arrange local get-togethers and nights out for members to catch up!
We meet on the First Monday of every month (except bank holidays when it's the second monday due to mini events!) and this is an informal meeting just to catch up on the events of the previous month and arrange the events for the coming months.
Membership is Free
Club T-shirts with the logo above embroidered on it (fitted t-shirts for women and polo shirts for men) are £5 each and large removable window stickers for £2.50 (both prices are well below the original retail price). If you buy 2 tshirts you get the sticker for free!
To join it's simple, come along to a club night (first monday of the month) meet a few members, talk to them about the club, their cars and the events they attended and see what you think! if you fancy joining up after that then feel free to!
