Looks like it'd also be useful if you got shunted in the rear!

That, or it'll just poke through the passenger's back  :D

But it seems I've got my mounting points sorted then, and discovered a nice little piece of history in the process! I'm sure it'll make a great pick-up line somehow…

Anybody interested in C pillar belt anchors? ;D

It's likely a bit lower than ideal for an adult belt, but possibly better kids.

I'll give them a try once I'm done. I'm 6'1/187cm so it'll be interesting to see how they feel for sure.

I have asked for further confirmation of the 'export' rear seat belt mounts for you on the Mk1 Forum:-

Thanks! I'd be surprised if they weren't to be honest, the car has never been resprayed and the previous owner didn't modify the car, except by adding black tape to the cracking vinyl of the seats…

I think I also have them in my MK4 built in Belgium.

I will have to check once back to the car...

Side remark: there is not that much paint over there... Did BMC already spare money on the paint or is it just such an awkward place to be painted which I could fully understand?

In a mk4? The plot thickens!

Regarding paint, do you mean above the boot opening? It might also be due to the flash on my phone… But it does seem like a spot that I'd hate to paint.

Well, looking in my archives this is the best picture I can grab. I wasn't focused at the background at the moment...

This is a picture looking from the rear valance closing panels after it went out. You'll recognize the rear wheel well at the left and the rear panel at the right.

My car has been 1st registered in April 1979.

Yes, I meant that yellowish part above the boot. I'm pretty sure the guys on the painting line wouldnt bent themselves in the boot to reach these areas. I know on my car even the lower dash was not completely painted. Can't complain tough. The guarantee is no more running I believe ;)
