Glueing Rear View Mirror

Anyone had any luck with those double sided tape pads to glue their rear view mirror? What brand did you use? Bought a pad in a local store but the mirror quickly fell off ( hitting the gearstick and destroying the mirror-of the joy-).
Cheers

Pad came of the mirror or the screen, not clean or dry enough?
The screen's curved so you'd need a certain amount of thickness & give in the pad to get full contact.

Not had a problem with them - make sure both surfaces are perfectly clean - wipe with thinners. Then warm them with a hairdryer before applying the pad.
I tend to put the pad on the mirror and leave it for 24 hours to make sure that side has a good bond. Then stick it to the screen.
Like anything - make sure it is a good quality one from a recognised manufacturer. I think the ones over here are generally from Summit and use 3M adhesive. I think Loctite also do one.

Never found double sided sticky pads unable to cope with the weight of a rear view mirror for very long so i switched to using Loctite 319 Rear View Mirror Bonder.
Never had a mirror fall off since i started using it.

Might try supporting the mirror somehow

This Loctite 319 kit also worked well with a heavy interior mirror for me:-

Warm the glass with a hairdryer (or sunny day) and prop/support the mirror in place for a while, overnight if possible.
