Much nicer / more comfortable and shorter movement to boot !
Have done a few now so can fully fit and reassemble in an hour.
Have gone for the black edition - less chrome ( suited more to 80’s metro)
Before
During
Note length difference
After
And the cherry .... had a bespoke insert made to match the original gear knob pattern / design
This was insert that came with kit
Oh, and a PS... don’t drop the gear knob while fitting , it will scratch it 🤦

In the early 80s the driving school I did my test with switched from mins to metros a week before my test.
I hated them, passed the test though and could not wait to get home and drive my mini van.

Didn't know they did a Moke specific stick, nice idea & the extra leverage will help too.
I also reckon the ride height is ok, Mini tread ain't gonna fill the arches quite as much.

1st bearing bush was relatively easy
second One has tested my patience - could I get all the holes to line up on brackets/ subframe .?????!!! Got one bolt in then the other wouldn’t line up , started with different bolt ... then the other wouldn’t line up !
I won the war .... but the car certainly won the battles

Just noticed the guard around the light switch. Don't recall that on any of my Metties, has someone added it or is it a revision from the factory? Guess it's to stop you accidently switching the lights o0n when extricating yourself over those giant sills

Didn’t have one on my 82 vp either... maybe was a later addition ? , mine is last year of Mk1

Good progress. Still got that clunking noise on full lock now bushes are replaced?
Think so , not been out in it , but no noise shimmying cars around driveway

I’ve attempted replacing front front stabiliser bush but abandoned that for now after realising I wasn’t going to be a quick job ( are they ever?)
Once that’s fitted it be really tight gear change
