Hi all, I'm hoping someone might be able to help point me in the right direction with a speaker setup I'm looking at putting into my Mini.
I currently have a pair of speakers in the factory parcel shelf holes, which are the only two speakers being driven by the head unit in my car. However I've just gotten hold of an original Mini 1100 Special centre console, which will offer a really factory-looking spot to mount a 4 inch speaker which will help fill out the sound in the front, just to complement the rear speakers a bit.
The challenge is, I want to utilise this single space for the front left AND front right inputs. My immediate thought was to look for a dual voice coil speaker from the likes of Retrosound and Classic Car Stereo like some of the ones listed here https://www.classicc...tereo-speakers/ , but the smallest size speaker you can get with dual voice coil (that I can find!) is 5 1/4" which is too big for the centre console. So I've got a couple of questions to help work out my options...
1) Does anyone know of a 4" dual voice coil speaker available on the market somewhere? I've done a fair bit of Googling with no luck, but perhaps someone knows a supplier that isn't easily findable online?
2) Alternatively, would I be able to utilise a regular 4" speaker and somehow combine the left and right inputs, to effectively convert stereo to mono? Is this easily done?
Thanks in advance for any advice and assistance!
Cheers
Jack
