Squeal comes from the backing plate contact points with the caliper and pistons. It can and does happen even if friction surface is well bedded to the rotor. Modern cars used better anti 'rattle' clips/springs so less need to applying anti squeal substances. Anti squeal works by damping down the high frequency vibrations from rotor/pad judder when applying brakes.

Are the pads free to move on the slide areas on the hub? Sometimes the powder coat on the pad is too thick and causes issues.

They were quite a fiddle to fit so maybe worth checking thanks!

The pads should fall out when you remove the caliper from the hub

I had the brake pads out at the weekend and I could see where they had been rubbing on the sides of the pads, a quick file on the edges of all the pads and they were a much looser fit, and after refitting with anti squeal shims and some copper slip theres now no squealing at all :-)

Thanks all for your input :-)
