As an update on the 5AS CDL investigations, I have been testing the functionality of the 5AS to directly control the door locks (to avoid the use of an aftermarket interface cable).  Sadly I am unable to get the internal sill switches to operate the locks, though the pins are functioning on the 5AS as they trigger the alarm.

The 5AS I have is from a MGF 2001/2002 (YWC106240) and my suspicion is that it may have superlocking enabled which disables the sill switches. From the manual there is a way to disable superlocking by simulating the opening of the driver's door with a key but I have not as yet been successful - even if this is achievable it would not be practical/desirable on each battery disconnect.

From wiring diagrams, R200s/R25s the mid-90's did not feature superlocks, the YWC000980 (featured on the later MPIs and others) may work but I do not have one to test or the ability to turn superlocking off on this unit at the moment so will park for another day.

Moral of the story is that not all 5AS's are equal. The Rover part number probably defines the 5AS configuration - anyone know?

I've got the Central Locking Kit, Mini Spares used to supply, fitted on my '98 MPi.

It's been on the car for more than ten years/35,000miles.

Came with an "Interface Kit" that allowed it to be triggered by the standard immobiliser key fob.

It uses standard, five-wire door-lock motors that fit, no problem.

Hi there I have got the same central locking system i am nearly at the stage of interface the alarm. But i have spotted something different my immobiliser is a 3AS YWC10208 could you tell me what the difference is between 5SA?

There may be something in this thread that you can use:

https://www.metropow...-locking-tweaks

There is a comparison between the 3AS and the 5AS.

It's a good article but I have a query about their 5AS antenna length adaptation. Fully agree with releasing the 5AS antenna wire from the loom however 1/2 wavelength antennae are usually for dipoles, simple unbalanced antenna should be 1/4 wavelength,

Plugging 433.92MHz into an online antenna calculator gives a 1/4 wavelength antenna length of 16.4cm. Considering the internal antenna tracks/feed to the connector is exposed (not transmission line) and therefore also forms part of the antenna the 11cm flying wire from the connector would be a good guestimate for total antenna length of ~16cm.

In summary, I would choose not to lengthen the antenna wire from the connector (if ~11cm), just release from the loom and tape up separately.
