Hi :)
I have started a new tread in Mini Saloons- be sure to check it out! Turbo Suzie :3.
Anyway,
I have installed a suck through turbo on a 998 Engine. Carb is a Stromberg 1inch. The mini starts and drives however, I am not achieving enough boost. On idle, both gauges are showing approx -0.7bar suction. once I start driving (approx 1.3k rpm) boost gauge comes to almost 0, over 3k rpm boost will only be approx 0.1- 0.2 bar boost. While driving, you can feel the turbo giving the extra kick & you can hear the turbo spooling etc.
At first I have suspected that the boost gauge is faulty however I have installed 2 - One on the compressor side i.e. bypassing the waste gate & other on the manifold side as per photos.
Any hints why it is not boosting enough? Turbo is of a Transit 2.4 TDCI. approx T2.5. Wastegate is normally closed and confirmed it is closed.
Carb too small?
