Hi

I am moving house to a rented property so need to store 2x Minis.
I know about condensation issues of shipping containers and have measured the length of my cars but has anybody tried to fit 2x Minis in a 20ft shipping container?

I think they will just fit but do not want to drag them there only for the container door to not shut.

Comments from anybody that has actually tried to fit 2 in a container would be greatly appreciated.

Well a 20 feet container will be about 2 feet too short. If you get a container long enough you'll be able to fit the minis in no problem

Depends how you want to store them. You can get them in by placing them at an angle, commonly done when shipping them to the US.
Just placing some ramps in there will be enough to store them comfortably.

Reminds me of how the factory exported Mokes in Shipping Containers

Stacked like this, they could get 4 in a 20 footer. Drive in, drive out.

I guess if you take the bumpers off they'd fit?

A 20’ shipping container is about 19’ 4” long inside.

Don't think taking bumpers off would give enough, there's still the seams behind them. You might gain a  bit more by removing a grille and raisin the other's rear to go in to the created space.

Could you not lift one's rear end enough to fit the front of the other underneath? If you're lucky there could be some lashing points inside the container to use, or knock something up in timber.

I get the container next week so we will see.
One Mini is complete and the other has no engine so I may be able to lift one if it’s a close fit?

I hope so.
If I just need a pair of car ramps to get them both in I will be very happy.

That'd make it easier to suspend a front end.

I'd assumed it'd be at a self storage place. But, if you can get away with it, just drill a hole in the top for an eye bolt & suspend the front end on a sling.

See my picture and look to the roof. Most have tie downs up there.
