My Midas Kit Car had the 2x "tin can" flasher units behind the dash (one for the indicators and one for the hazards), which not surprisingly fell apart when handled. I always had trouble with these things when I had my Minis - they always seemed a bit hit and miss quality-wise.

Can someone please advise on a decent reliable and more modern replacement for each of them? My knowledge of electrics is very limited so a like for like fit would be awesome.

Just fit a standard 3 pin relay

Cheers - Got an example of one? :gimme: I don't know electrics at all so a "standard 3-pin relay" is like suggesting I buy "some food" for Xmas dinner. Not having a go at you - an example would be much more helpful for me. Also, the Indicator flasher has 2 pins.

Ideally I would like it to be reliable, not something that will break 6 months down the line.

Agreed to me the standard was always two pin. And I am not sure what wiring changes would be needed.

I guess you are really asking is there a better relay to replace each of the ones you have there currently?

Sorry for the confusion.

The 3 pin relay is a simple conversion. The extra pin needs an earth and the 2 other pins are wired as the 2 pin unit.

There are different relays available, LED Non LED and flasher relays.

Can be fun on a plastic tub though.

I fitted some electronic ones when I fitted led bulbs (they work with normal bulbs too) and they’ve been reliable for the past two years and daily use. https://www.classicc...k-x-l-p-2-3-pin

I've found these to be quite good;-

If you have the proper plug bases in the loom, these are just plug and play.

I strongly advise you NOT to buy anything new with Lucas written on the box, even back in the day they were known as " The Prince of Darkness" and that was when they made stuff in the UK, something German or Japanese will probably be best

I bought a "non load" electro mechanical flasher as it can deal with normal bulbs, LED bulbs and a combination of the two.

Mine is Tridon HD13, but if you look for an "electro mechanical" flasher unit I'm sure you can find one locally e.g:
