Maybe he is too busy fitting 'proper' rubber cone springs

Love it .

certainly a big marmite subject.   If I was doing it again I’d go for the Moulton rubber jobs, the engineering and science arguments are well reasoned etc...

I’d definitely avoid any unidentified or cheaper springs.  I’d also say that beefy HiLos and a healthy subframe are essential whatever your doing.  Some of the factory subframe welding wasn’t the best.

I just know that our experience with decent metal springs on a well used, hard driven, well maintenance and heavy S Works has been very good.  Maybe we are a one off, maybe I’ve a bit of craic waiting round the corner.  Hope not!!  Like a bit of tinkering, repair and experimenting but stranded on some remote country road no thanks. We’ve all done that one.

Wonder what Japanese springs are like?  Mayamuru make  a pretty popular set and his stuff is usually good - would love an explore round his Tokyo shop / collection.

Any coil spring regardless of brand shouldn't be fitted to a mini. It's that simple

Whilst some vendors might recommend coil springs, they do so for one reason - to make profits. Some people are taken in by the sales 'spin'.
The reason coil springs were fitted to Minis was for racing on totally smooth race tracks. The springs used were very high rate and this removed the initial body-roll when turning into corners, thus improving the 'turn-in' capability. For normal roads this is of no use as the springs high rate prevents the tyres staying in contact with the road surface over even small bumps.
With its 'rising rate' effect, the rubber cone springs are perfect which is how the car was designed.

Nope. It is trying to educate people in what is good and what is not.

no coil hater here.

Unfortunately, Spring Steel Technology, no matter where it's made or wound, just isn't there yet. Maybe one day, but not currently.

It is not a question of 'hating', it is a matter of engineering knowledge. Engineering logic always applies in all areas of automotive design and development. Many of us have formal engineering qualifications and speak from knowledge and experience.
The logic in stating that coil springs are less suitable for a roaf going Mini has been well explained. If you cannot understand this, then maybe more explanation complete with the calculations are needed in your case, but I don't think I can be bothered.
