Borrow a trailer ? Or isn't there a car transport company in the area ?

I don't have the thing in my car for a trailer.

I would need to find a recovery truck or similar to do the move. I asked the removal company that are taking our furniture to the new house, but they don't provide the service.

I'll post it on the Mini groups on Facebook and also on NextDoor, I'm sure I'll find someone!

Cheers.

Victor.

Hi Viktor,

Somewhere on the forum somebody posted a link to a website that you could post what you wanted to move from where to where and you can get back quotes from car transport companies.

I had to get the Moop moved 2 miles, admittedly she was on her wheels, and it cost me £30. I just googled local car transporting guys in my area.

The other way to do it, as you just have a shell, is to contact transport companies that have flatbed trucks with HIAB cranes. Strap the shell to a large pallet and engine to a small one and Hay Ho they can be lifted on and off with no problem

and I am sure with no damage.

Cheers.

The underside of the Mini looks really good Viktor!

And good luck with the move.

Quick update. I noticed a few spots where I didn't get the green paint in, so I decided to give it a go with the car on a different position, so I can reach better. Under rear valance and inside inner wings.

All sorted now. As the sun was out I put the car out to take off the masking and take some photos of the underside painted.

Then I turned the car to its normal position and did a quick test on one of the panels to see how the paint could work. This is without primer, nor sanding.

It is not perfect, but it was done quick and without much attention. I might give it a go at painting it myself...

Next it will be preparing the car for the house move. Remove the shell from the jig and on to the trolley, hopefully next weekend.

And back to the garage, job done!

Thanks Steve! :)

No Mini update today. Got the keys of the new house and have started doing work on it to prepare for when we move in.

A few pics of the new (not really new) garage. Access is from the back of the garden via a private road that needs some cleaning up...

Ex3AmM4.jpeg

This is the typical sectional precast concrete garage. The internal height is very low at the rear end. In terms of space is slightly bigger than the one I have at the moment, but with less headroom, which is not great. As you can see below it is completely dry inside, even though it has been raining for the last few days.

This is the view from the back garden.

There is a lot of space to the left of the garage that it is a bit of a waste. My plan is to create a concrete base there at the same level of the garage and get a double garage. Having checked different options, the cheapest would be a similar sectional concrete garage. But I would get one a bit higher, up to 2.5m it will be under permitted development and won't need planning application. This is planned for around spring time, when the weather should be a bit better.

By the way, there's no lights or power in the garage, so I would need to see how I can address that.

I'll try to move the car next weekend, but I still need to find someone to do it for me...

Cheers.

Victor.

Moving day! After keeping the Mini for 4 years in a dry garage, the day I have to move it was raining!

First I put the car back to the pallet trolley, but I left the jig still in the car to transport it.

Then the moment of truth, loading the Mini on the recovery truck. I foung this young chap that did the work for me for £100, reasonable to me.

And also the engine...

Time to go to the new house.

Once there we had a bit of a problem as the path to the garage was very wet and the truck was sinking in the grass. So we had to downloaded the car there, a long way to the garage.

Good thing I called my friend Javier, who gave me a hand to push the car into the garage using some boards on top of the grass path. That was a lot of fun...

A few more meters and we were almost there...

And finally inside the garage, much more space than the previous one!

Job done!

Now I have to move all the parts in boxes from the old house loft to the new house loft!

More to follow.

Cheers.

Victor.

Hi Viktor,

Great to see you successfully resolved your problem for the move.

I take it you will be fitting caterpillar tracks now for getting in and out of the garage.

Hahahaha, hopefully the standard 10" tyres would do it! But not a bad idea...

Hopefully she will be running soon, so I can test if it can drive out of the garage!

Cheers.

Victor.
