Just read Jim Jupp's install of the Better Car Lighting's Headlight LED bulbs, in MiniWorld (Jan 2021 issue) and although not an in-depth review, they seem promising.

From what I have read, these aren't just off the shelf LEDs, but have been specially developed for older cars, and don't have the bright white colour of some modern bulbs, but are more faithful to H4s warmth and more importantly fit in Classic mini head light bowls.

I just wondered if anyone else has taken the plunge yet and installed these?

I'm still not sure how I feel about LED headlights, the best of them dazzle oncoming drivers IMO.  I'm very interested in the 501s for behind the dash though: https://www.betterca...&productId=690   The cheapo carp from Ebay can be a right load of tosh, these ones look properly thought out.  I just can't remember if I need 2 or 3 bulbs behind a 3-clock dash?

Look for the bi-polarity type leds for the turn signal warning light as I believe these require current flow in either direction for left/right signal lights in our minis.
Also, positive earth leds exist if your car needs them.

Ive run led headlights in two motorbikes. Work very well. Much less dazzle than HID lighting. Very good beam pattern and of course low power consumption, low temp output. There are types now with more warmer colour, more yellow, which better suits classic cars.
Also think of upgrades to signal, tail, brake lights. Make a huge improvement for being visible on the road.

I run a complete LED light setup, all using the original car lenses and reflectors, very happy with them. They all came from ClassicCarLEDs and sound similar to what bettercarlighting are offering. MiniWorld did an article on ClassicCarLEDs headlamp bulbs a little while ago which convinced me to go that route. I have the warm light look. No grumbles here.

Everything is brighter. Just passed my MOT with them too.

My '88 has the old style Lucas headlamp housings that take the P45T type bulbs (40/50W output). Been looking for LED solutions that don't require changing out the Lucas reflector housings. Seems a few places sell adaptors for P45T housings to fit H4 type bulbs. So that would allow any H4 LED to fit my housings.

From ClassicCarLEDs:

Also a few option for Halogens to direct fit in the existing housings...not yet found a direct fit LED.

They're still a legal conversion?  Obviously HID's were banned not long ago, I can't remember if they also did LED at the same time?

I have these in my van, they produce a good pattern on an mot beam testing machine and the colour of the light is in keeping with an older vehicle. In fact I have their bulbs in all the lights on my van with no complaints. Their customer service is very good too.
