Done the 100w headlight bulbs (and burnt out the headlight switch) and 4 Cibies / Lucas 600s on a works lamp bar before. I too personally think the aftermarket angel eyes look cheap (and I know some of them are anything but).
Nowadays Im loving the yellowy weak light that sealed beams give out. I dont need to and rarely do drive the mini at night time so light output isnt of much concern anymore. I do love the look of sealed beams coming towards you at dusk on a summers evening, chances are it a Mini / Minor / MG or a Series Landrover. And anyway the sealed beams are perfectly fast enough for my little old 850 to try and keep up with. 
Having said that if I get the opportunity to build a fast road Mini as a toy I'll happily wire up more spots, got a pair of Cibie Super Oscars in my garage still and the big Lucas lamps are still in my dads garage....
