I do a conversation " Mini Midas with Swift gti 1300" and I wonder if the speedsensor in the Swift speedometer is really necessary to let the engine run without any problem ?
I mean if I use the speedometer of the Mini Midas ,which is coming from a Metro car , will I have problems with the engine ?

No, you don't really need it. It's supposed to help with running but in reality does not make any noticeable difference.
You can still fit it if you really want to, you've posted on the 16v mini club forum too - just search on 'swift speedo sensor' and you'll see all the replies.

I have got some answers from different forums and it seems that you don't really need the speedsensor , but nobody could tell me the real function
of this speedsensor ?
Some people make a kind of reed contact or hall effect contact .......but I do not understand that they do such an effort for something which is not necessary ?

The VSS (Vehicle Speed Sensor) is just that, it tells the ECU the vehicles speed, I had to do a quick google as it was over ten years ago when I looked into this ...found this that might help on RedlineGTI...
the only purpose of the vss in the gti is to control the idle solenoid valve
Yes, it is a simple reed switch. You could buy one for pennies, stick it as close as you can to the disc / magnet that rotates inside your speedo and it will function the same as the Suzuki OEM one. Easy to test and set-up with a multimeter, as it's just an on/off circuit.
I used the complete swift loom and dash cluster, just attached the mini lights and wiper to that loom, but thats of little help to you I suspect.

I just read about the function of the ISC .The function is to adapt the idle speed in different circumstances ( thermo fan is going on , airco on/off ,lights on/off, etc.........)
Some people mention that there is a little variation in idle speed when the ISC is not used .
But I will try the reed contact .
