I heard a rumor that Minispares are closing down this morning - any idea if this is true or "fake news"?

Terrible news, I just can’t understand why they can’t open for click and collect as many people needed parts over the summer, looks like I will have to find another supplier, oldskool minis should pick a lot of this business up

Most places do next day delivery, for me Minispares postage over lockdown has been awful... however minisport, yes minisport have done 7/8 orders next day far far far cheaper than mini spares next day.
Going to a physical shop is dying out for me.

It is sad however I get the impression that the Midland store was a Franchise and that they'll be carrying on with the original core business.
The other stores I believe are unaffected.

It’s because Minispares is more popular, and they sell more genuine items, hence busier. Plus they had reduced staff, so things took longer.

Minispares London, north, and midlands, 3 outlets, 3 lots of staff.
Minisport Padiham - they get lots of **** on here for postage but they've been A1 for me when needed in lockdown. Next day delivery took 5 days in may.. minisport next day. Just saying my opinion, experience, and ive spent £££££ with Minispares.

It may be of interest to TMF members (who are also members of the MCR) that Minisport who are a sponsor of the 'Mini Cooper Register' now have a dedicated MCR members only website with better prices and special offers exclusive to the MCR.
GREAT NEWS FOR CLUB MEMBERS!
"Mini Sport Ltd have just launched a brand new website exclusive for Mini Cooper Register members!
This new site has been specifically tailored to the Club, with special discounts, offers & benefits! MCR members should be receiving an e-mail now outlining what they need to do.
We're also getting the first look at the 2020 Cooper Car Company Catalogue - the first to be made in over 20 years, before anyone else!
Remember to log in with your existing Mini Sport account to get the special prices, or if you're not already registered as a member of the Club with Mini Sport, details of how to sign up are on the new site too. Enjoy your new & improved shopping experience!"

Explains why the Birmingham branch remained closed whist the Southern & Northern were open during the pandemic.
You could be forgiven for thinking they made more profit over the last 6 months with the (extortionate) postage costs being charged!

I was at Potters Bar a few weeks ago and they said it wasn't viable for them to keep the Midlands branch going as they didn't want to open their shop back up to the public but just do mail order in which case they might as well close them and send stuff out from Potters Bar or York instead.

Just a quick comment about how helpful Minispares were when I had a couple of questions about my mini recently (1. getting hot and 2. fuel gauge). I was passed to Gary who was really helpful and knowledgeable and took considerable time to go through different options to get things right. Sometimes we are quick to criticise when things don't go quite as well as hoped, but I was certainly very impressed with their service on this occasion.
Best wishes
Mike
