Hi,

Is the original turn signal switch able to sound the horn?

Background to my question...

Yesterday, the wires to my horn shorted, prompting me to look for a replacement part, https://www.7ent.com...-mk1-31945.html

I never knew my turn signal switch wasn't original.  It doesn't have the green indicator light on the end.  But one thing mine does have is the ability to sound the horn by tapping inward on the black end-piece.  So I'm wondering if the part I've linked to will do the same.

Thanks,

Ryan

Most of the 3rd party steering wheels of the time of Mk1 had the correct size hole to accept the standard horn push.

Many here converted their MKI set up, to the later MKII set up as the horn button was notoriously unreliable. It also put the Beam change switch at their finger tips, leaving the clutch foot for that.

Ah but there is nothing quite like that warm green glow when you use your indicators at night, by the time you remember that your horn is in the steering wheel, your main beam dip switch is somewhere on the floor vaguely near your left foot and that your windscreen washer pump is under the dash rail you'll be round the corner anyway!  ;D

Hehehehehe,,,,,,, that did make me chuckle !!!!

OK, yes, you are spot on there mate !

It also raises a point here to that while old school filament bulbs maybe viewed as slow, I feel by comparison, LEDs are at times just too clinical. No 'warm glow' there, just in your face or not.

It may be an idea to start your own car thread in the projects section then when questions are asked by you we can see the car etc. As you have found out this was not an original part and I bet there is much more that is not original either.

or include images with your questions.
