Pressed plates are put on so many cars, classic and modern. I don't think they look out of place on a Mini at all.
But who cares what I think. It is your car, if you like them go for it!

Metal plates are great for under the front bumper - if you hit them on something they bend instead of shatter. They also don't delaminate like plastic ones do.

+1 for pressed plates, or if you're going for a slightly more retro look, aluminium plates with the older style riveted letters look really nice.

Apologies I meant to say number plates to replace my plastic ones.

I've fitted pressed plates to my '98 and they look great. I retained the front plastic plate as a support behind the pressed plate because I'm fearful the pressed plate will be too easily bent.

At least you can bend them back though. Plastic plates are not suitable for under the front bumper.
