Hi,

Back in 2014 I was looking to get my 1994 Mini Cooper restored by Somerford, and went there for a quote.  The quote was astronomical and I couldn't justify it, but outside was a "here's one we did earlier" moment with a 1990 "mainstream" Rover Cooper.  It looked very plain compared to my 94 SPi, however after I left it nagged away at the back of my mind, and eventually we flew back down for a test drive, and reserved it on the spot.  We got it delivered that summer, looking like a brand new car - better than new actually, including its original engine, fully rebuilt.  I'd wanted a red Cooper ever since they reintroduced them, when I was a lad!

During that time I came across lots of Taffy's content, because he'd posted lots of information and images about the Mainstream that I've used to this day.  It was when trying to get in touch with him after buying the car, that I found that he'd sadly passed away.

Anyway - I had no history at all about the car prior to 2014 - Somerford appeared to have lost it all - and then today I did a google image search for the registration plate and up popped this topic, on this very forum!

I am over the moon, I really am.  I realised Somerford had had it for years but its nice to actually see it.  I think the plain-ness of the car put people off buying it, versus the later injection and earlier RSP model, however I'm keeping it plain as its now fairly rare to see them like that.

Did YOU see my Mini on the Somerford stand at an event back then?  I'd love to find more photos to build up a bit more history.  There must be some out there.  I'd be very grateful!

Thanks again Taffy.

- Rob
