Just recieved a new MS Evo waterpump. Unfortuneatly is it came with the open bypass instead of blocked off.

should I

a) Get another one with it blocked off

b) Block the one I have ?

if b, I was thinking of drilling and tapping, insert bolt with sealant.

Thanks in advance

Drill tap and fit a grub screw.

Will prob go this route, any idea on sealant. Was thinking threadlocker.

As for the rubber cup and hose clamp, not too keen. Will proabably fail at the worst moment :-)

If you fit a plug, get it as close as you can to the inside without it protruding in to the flow path.

Is there enough wall thickness to thread and plug?

Personally I'd exchange it for the blanked off one.

I blanked mine off by tapping it and making a plug on the lathe.

Nice, copper washer?

What size tap did you use?

Unfortunately I can't remember the tap size, I did it over 4 years ago. It doesn't rely entirely on the washer as I didn't machine the top surface square with the thread, it has sealant on the thread too. Been ok for over 4 years now.

Best to measure the hole and the OD of the adaptor on the pump you have as they do vary a bit between brands and with some, between pumps

Drilled and tapped on the drill press. 8.5mm drill. M10 tap.
Filed top flat.

Just need to find a bolt long enough and a copper washer.  Will loc-tite it in

I use 3/8 unc tap, not all the way through. Grubscrew with Loctite 572. Could also use old headstud and cut off after fitting.
