Hi can anyone help please.
I have recently bought an engine that was advertised as a ‘Rare Mini A Series 848cc’.
But I am having difficulty authenticating it by its engine number, which is :- 8G156 4150.
Any ideas please.

8G156 were 1100cc clubman and specials.

I think the g denotes a gold seal engine but the numbers aren't on any lists for an 848. There is a 8g156E but that is listed as a 1100 clubman. I think we're all going stir crazy waiting for a new post to arrive and all replying at the same time!

8G156E was the replacement 1098 engine
but other 8G15x engines were a bit more exotic being of the S type and either 1071 or 1275
you need to do some investigations
