It doesn't drop straight on.

Studs need moving and pistons machining.

Here is one, on ebay

its a lot of work, but as a general rule of thumb you'll get the below powers from the unmodded heads

8v   100hp

16v LT     120hp

16v RS     125-130hp

with porting and cams you can get upto around 160-170 hp,

If you look on the 'motorworks' site, for £20-00 they sell a manual of how to do what hast be done to the engine and head, and how to fit it all together.

If you buy a BMW head, it has to have aluminium welding done to it, and then machined. which if you can do it, isn't too difficult. but if you have no machining facilities, the one they have for sale is reasonable value.

The pistons have to have pockets machined in them to accommodate the angled valves, and 7 of the head stud holes in the block have to be plugged and re-drilled and tapped in slightly different places.

Almost better than the 100 + BHP, is being able to wind it up past 8,000 RPM when overtaking.

In terms of the SC conversions, what are the pros/cons when comparing a BMW head coversion and their Supercharger conversion?
