Hi, can someone explain how this is supposed to fit?

It seems impossible to get it to line up with the opening in the heater unit. The pedals seem to block it, and the pipe itself isn't flexible enough to bend around them

Does anyone have a picture of how its supposed to looks?

This is what I mean:

Had the same problem and theirs no easy way to get it on except perseverance. In the end I purchased a length of black flexible fabric pipe that has the spiral metal wire on the inside of the pipe. With that you can get it on the heater and then twist it on and the metal wire acts as a thread and easily moves the pipe passed the metal pedal box support that stops the original tube going on straight. I think it's 83mm or so and ebay is the place. With that on its a 30 second job.

Hi Chris, that sounds ideal. Don’t suppose you have a link do you?

Awkward job but not impossible. Hose will have a natural bend in it, fix heater end first then slight curve out and clip over pipe on wheel of arch. The back side of the pipe will be a bit crushed by the pedals.

After replacing a master cylinder this is the easy bit!

I used the single wire one and used a permanent marker to colour the white thread and fit to the heater first leave it long and then compress it to fit to the bulkhead. I,m using an old iPad Ann this is as close to a link as I can get.

I detach the heater from the hooks so it sits on the floor, attached the fresh air hose, and then replace the heater.

The standard plastic pipe is a pain to get on, I ended up using the stuff linked above, then some adaptors 3d printed by a mate to make it easier again.

Nice work, My mate made these for me for the fresh air pipe on the heater.

Do you think the plastic duct was slightly more flexible when it was new?

I found this picture a while back. Took a lot of googling, but my car had never had a heater fitted before so I was keen to see installs before I started.

I used the Minispares duct which is quite stiff (and looks the same as the one in this photo with the diagonal seam). Note Minispares say it is too long, but I had no need trim any from mine.

To fit to the heater I undid the screws below the switch panel and let the heater unit hang from the brackets on the dash. It was still a pain to fit but I got there eventually.

Some how I managed to loose my pipe during the re-build so I blocked off the hole in the inner wheel arch.
Now the heater only uses cabin air and it gets quite toasty in the winter.
