Wondering if this sterering wheel can be 'releathered'. I have googled and have not found one like it with "John Cooper" engraved into one spoke of the steering wheel. It is on a 1990 Mini Mayfair 1000 with a John Cooper Conversion that came from Japan. Any help appreciated.

Yes you can definitely get it recovered with leather. Is there a stamp on the bottom spoke or the rear of the wheel with the makers name?

Moto Lita will recover their own wheels, I’d imagine that some other companies would do the same. You can also find local leather shops that can do it

very similar in style to a Springall wheel

there's more examples in the archive below

As above, you can get the leather rims replaced, but it will cost.  Alternatively, if you have the time and inclination, you could give it a go yourself - there's at least one thread on this site were some one has done it

Here’s a thread showing a DIY refurb. There’s also lots of videos on YouTube if you want to try it yourself

I had an old Moto Lita wheel recovered in leather by a local saddle maker while I was still back in New Zealand - came out fantastic, cost about $200 NZD so around £100 or so.

I had a quote from   royalsteeringwheels.com

To recover my Rover Cooper steering wheel, they said £150 + VAT, but I decided not to go ahead in the end.
