Continuing the rebuild of my Mini the next task was to make it more secure to leave it in the work car park (it can be seen from my desk but I'd rather it was locked).

 

As it was a started project it didn't come with any keys. Got the door locks out easy enough and replaced the barrels with new from a 3 barrel set from Mini Spares. Can lock the doors from the inside but turning the key from the out side appears to do nothing.

 

Is any one able to to offer any guidance as to what I may have missed or done wrong?

You need to make sure the lock lever works as it should, there is adjustment available and also make sure the end of the lever is connected correctly.

Are you sure it's the lock barrel and not the lever that drops to the locl mechanism

have you connected the door handle lock to the door latch, the little bent bar. the internal lever is connected to a different part of the latch.

Thanks for the reply’s I will check, as I put it back in a rush and relative dark to make it to the L2B. Currently on well needed short break minus the mini
