I have prepped up the engine bay and inside the boot and then bagged the shell up again ready for paint

I'm going to do some repairs to the spray booth first so will aim to paint the rest on Thursday

Now in the booth, I masked up the underside ready to paint.

And then after a while of degreasing and tak ragging, I began by applying the white bast to the roof and mirrors

Once that had flashed off, I masked up the roof

And then applied the flugplatz blue base

Then de-masked the roof

And applied the clear

And then after de-masking the car, we have the finished result

Is the bar stool there so that you can sit and admire your work Ben?

Ha ha. Not exactly. After the repairs I did in the booth, I have moved a cabinet in there so I can mix paint in there as I go on the bigger jobs so there was no reason to leave the booth so the stool was to rest on between coats but ad I only had an extra fast hardner in stock, there wasn't any time to stop. It was a mad dash to get the clear on before it started to flash. The finished job was touch dry in 20mins!

Before I start building it back up, I'm going to flat and polish the entire shell so I don't have obstacles in the way later.

I won't bore anyone with all the details so ill do a befor and after of one wing and then further updates once it's complete and im ready to rebuild.

Flat down with 1500 and then 2000 grit dry.

And then machine polish with a medium compound

I will finish with a fine finishing compound once the heavy cut is complete.

Cheers

Ben
