nice work! If the battery hasn't been fitted yet, could you take a picture of the inside of the box...? I took a strip of something out of mine that was covering the 3 holes and I can't remember whats supposed to be down there....

I took the same strip out of mine, a sort of bitumin strip that was fitted into the drainage channel, I queried it here: http://www.theminifo...-way-to-remove/ I think it helps to stop the battery moving although mine was so compressed with age the battery was sat on the steel either side anyway.nice work! I would always plug those holes as you have more chance of wet getting in to the battery tray from beneath and rotting it out than the need to drain any water out.
Remember, all of the drain plugs in the Mini (and most other cars for that matter) are not fitted with removal in mind in case there is a need to let water out, they are there to seal up the holes made to let out the coating when the shells are dipped at the factory.
Originally in this car and my pink MPI, there was a bitumen strip that was the shape of the narrow pressing in the bottom of the battery box where the 3 drain holes are. It didn't just lay over the holes, it was molded into the holes too. I cant remember by what method though.
I don't actually have the one from this car anymore as despite being very careful, it just broke up into small pieces when removing as it was cracked and brittle.
In this car, I shall replace this with flat rubber bungs instead

Right, back again after a few days away and waiting for me on the bench was a specialist components throttle body and ECU kit.
Having never fitted one before, I quickly realised that the Rover MEMS ECU and engine bay loom I had previously refitted were no longer required so I removed them once again and set aside.
The kit went on ok but there were a few issues mainly with the way the loom routes and the finish of 1 or two bits tat needed minor mods but never mind.
I'm going to have a try at tidying up the wiring in the next photo as it doesnt want to sit any differently to how it is there but it looks a bit birds nesty
And the fuse holder and comms cable dont have anywhere to live apart from just dangling
In the picture, the fuse holder is cable tied to the maxi fuse holder bracket. I might change that though.
Ever closer to having a running Mini!!

What was the reason to go to the SC fuel injection system instead of the original MPi system?
I'm about to order one of these systems for a customer's car, what sort of minor issues did you have so I'll know what to look out for? What sort of tuning has to be done once installed? Mine is going on a fresh build 1310 to replace dual HS4 carbs.
Does the SC ECU also run the ignition or just the FI?

It was the customers preference to use it and after exchanging a few emails with sc, they said that they have installed them on jcw converted minis and get impressive results. What was the reason to go to the SC fuel injection system instead of the original MPi system?

Is that a 9 pin RS232 connector I spy in one of the images adjacent to the 3 way fuse box?
What's its purpose and what does it plug into?
Wish it was possible to keep everything in the engine compartment as clean and shiney as it is in these last few images.

Thanks for that.
Sounds like the sort of thing I did when I used to work in an IT dept but in our case it was to keep old machinery working when laptop manufacturers insisted on upgrading their kit and removing rs232 interfaces and fitting them there new fangled usb things.

I painted the doors
I prefer to flat and polish doors off of the car so first one flatted
And polished
And fitted
I fitted the mirror too
And the same for the other door
I have also bled the brakes and had the battery on to check everything works which it does.
Cheers
Ben
