What Etch Primer should I paint the block with after it’s been machined (or should I paint it before hand).
For the Top Coat I guess an engine enamel, unless anyone wants to recommend anime thing else.
As far as colour, it will be a 1293, so it will either be red or I have seen a few nice looking black ish colours - what do you reckon?

Just use a piece of scotchbrite or 150 sand paper and you can then simply prep clean and paint the motor. I wouldn't media blast it for various reasons

Warm the block with a hot air gun before you prime/paint it for a longer lasting finish.

engine enamel goes onto bare metal no need to prime

A spray can of high temperature engine paint is cheap enough. Remember to paint the inside of the block with red oxide primer.

Inside the block? Do you mean the area under the cylinders?A spray can of high temperature engine paint is cheap enough. Remember to paint the inside of the block with red oxide primer.

Not sure red oxide is the right paint ... being more of a primer is it likely to still let the oil through .. the one above from frost's is

I have used the POR stuff which is great, unfortunately they didn't do it in the colour that I wanted so after advice from my father, got some 2K mixed. Brushed it on. It looks great!
