The Haynes manual says that oil should be used on early Minis, and "semi fluid grease" on later ones. But what is "semi fluid grease"? Is it an universal grease (but I don't think such grease is fluid at all) or is it some type of thick oil?

But Haynes says EP90 for early cars, not for the late ones.

The MPi work shop manual says 'Steering rack: Use Sterak grease specification 31.815.252 in accordance with specification 31.820.194'. Does anyone know what that is? Google don't.

Thanks for info. Then it seems that EP90 is the one to get even for newer Minis.

I use Maxol Semi fluid grease but I could only get it in a 5 ltr tin. Not as fluid as EP90 but a lot more fluid than regular general purpose grease

Semi fluid grease is what I'd use too. Moss have litre cans for £11, Dynolite branded I believe. Penrite also do it I think

I have a broken Gaiter and also running into this question oil or grease.

And i found this on Minispares:

Note: All new steering racks are now grease filled for longevity and most are made to Mini Spares specifications.

My MPI has thick yellow grease in it from the factory.

I am replacing the boots / gaiters. I am increasingly confused on what product to use to add... Any suggestions?
