Hi, did you apply with a V62 form? I had this on a car recently where the number the DVLA had was different to the car (ended in 6 not 5). On a mini it's probably some S mixed up with 5. If you go to whomademybike.com and put in you reg it will give you the vin that the DVLA have although the manufacturer will be wrong.

Early Minis had Car No./ Chassis No. which later became the VIN number.

When I registered one of my race Minis, ***731J, I was asked for a chassis number and told "Just put down your date of birth".  In an example of "Just ticking the box", I wasn't required to actually put anything on the car.
