I've used a modified fork type ball joint splitter in desperation, luckily it worked without damaging the diff side cover.

I used to use a fork type ball joint splitter against the diff cover and never did any damage because the pot joints always came off easily. I've never had one this bad before.

It's only an old crowbar but it wasn't bent like that before.
As moke spider says keep going. It will let go eventually. You are endeavouring to "cut through" the jammed circlip.
Also as Rorf says try tackling it from underneath.

I have one of these. It worked on the other side quite well when removing the engine but I bent it on this one.

So I got my new special tool:

Half a dozen hits with a lump hammer later and:
Eureka! Came off easily. Saved from the angle grinder.
