Just having a look at these

https://www.ebay.co....QkAAOSw-FRb5FYJ

anyone fitted them ?

would they look too much on a de-seamed white convertible ?

with a bloke driving it ?  - or a bit too camp?

I assume they fit behind the rim in front of the sidewall ?

I didn't realise white side walls were on option on earlier mini's

I saw a post on our club forum the other day from a chap who had taken them off his car and they were eating into the sidewall of his tyres!

Thanks for that - I did wonder if they would chafe esp on lower profiles

I fitted a set of Atlas ones to my camper, once they're on red rubber grease should be smeared between the trim and the tyre to stop them chafing, Mine have been on for a couple of thousand miles without a problem - except for the grease squirting up the tyres for a while O_O

I've got a set of Atlas ones on one of the Consuls however I was told initially they were meant for cross plys... Which their side walls don't flex as much as radials. Due to that they will rub into the walls of radials slightly

When I bought my first mini it had white sidewalls and was all the rage. Mind you it was 1963! (see profile picture).

I've been waiting 56 years for white sidewalls to make a comeback, but we used paint in those days.

Don't do it on new tyres, the tyre mold release agent stays on them for ages and will bleed through the paint.

I’ve used MR Whitewalls rubberised paint for a Classic Consul and was quite impressed. http://www.mrwhitewalls.com/

I think it took two coats on each tyre to get them looking really white and seemed quite tough. It’s worth checking out his facebook page as well as he also offers a painting service.

It is only my opinion, but whitewalls somehow don't quite look right on a 10" tyre

They look spiffing on a 16 or old 18 inch

See what I mean  ?

I use  'Tyrewall White to identify things because it doesn't wash off but is easily removed with a cloth damped in petrol.

We used to joke that the height of image for a rally Mini was white-walled studded Dunlop SP44 knobblies.

I think a lot of the vow boys use these, don’t think they would look right on lower profile tyres though
