Result !!  i now have doors that close properly  :D

the solution in the end was to use two different types of door seal; main body of the doors, where the gaps were really tight, is fitted with phoenix trim DX88, and the window frame section i used the much wider DX73 type

Here you are - also worth noting that they sell the floor seals that fits between the load bed and side panels

..and made a tool to install the clevis pins out of a paintbrush handle and a magnet from an old phone case - works a treat

back to wiring again today, and managed to get the bulk of the instrument cluster loom in place - still need to sort out the earth connections and order some more cable for the last of the line outs, but the hard part is done

Also replaced the durite push-pull switches i fitted initially with illuminated chrome toggle switches which are a big improvement

I was planning to paint the face with black crinkle finish paint, but after watching the last Ivans Shed video on the two cylinder a-series i decided i'm going to have a go at corking the front panel and see how it turns out.

Loving this build.

I tried a Crinkle finish for my dashboard. I bought a can from Frost.
I followed the instructions to the letter....but the finish wasn't as good as I'd expected.

I ended it stripping it all off and applying a fake carbon wrap. Looks a lot tidier.

Be interested to hear others experiences of the Crackle paint finish....

I did use it on my heater. Again, not perfect but it's hidden under the dashrail so I'll leave it.

Thanks - glad you're enjoying it

i used the same stuff on my steering wheel boss and after a quick bake in the oven it came out pretty well

What's corking ?

possibly a made up term i just invented  :shy:

in the video it looked like they were using a piece of cork in a pillar drill to produce the swirl pattern on the control panel

finished off the wiring on the instrument cluster

8wjtnV8.jpg

oQxA1ZE.jpg

..and then bench tested it to make sure it all works as expected

7tfZQ6M.jpg

testing revealed a couple of issues that need to be addressed; one fairly trivial that a diode will rectify (!), and the other that some of the LED's i've used are really bright; especially the blue one in the toggle switch, so will need to look at what can be done to tone them down

Might sound daft, but colour the end in with a black Sharpie
