same as my first one, i wish i had that car instead of my advantage to be fair. The cities where underpowered but you just could have so much fun with them.
No one keeps minis original these days, everyone puts mk1 back lights which are rubbish to be fair, back in the day people put mk2 lights on as they where so much better. Same with the grills.
another vote for standard, if not just to be " different !"

Same model as mine that I'm restoring now.
I'm putting mine all back to standard. These might not be highly desirable models at present, but City 850's are a very rare model. Chances are standard ones will be valuable in the future

The 850 is becoming very rare now as so many have been fitted with either 998 or 1275 engines.
You are never going to make it a quick car, so if you keep to period accessories it will have an increasing value once the body restoration has been done.

Well i have another thats already modified ime looking at the 850 thinking that it would be a shame to mod it the engine will need a little work to get it right after being stood ten years so ime thinking about standard but with some fat rubber on cooper steels

Mine's a 1000 though, with a City E engine and gearbox. I stripped this car to a bare shell this summer, rebuilt everything and put it back together, using it in all weathers. I didn't touch the paint unless I had to repair the metal underneath! The pictures make it look great, in reality, it's dog-rough, with surface rust and appalling paint all over- prefect for a daily hack :)
IMO, keep the 850 in yours and get it back on the road, earning its keep! There's nothing better than having an imperfect car that you don't mind picking up the odd scratch etc; so much more fun that a perfect garage queen that you can't enjoy without worrying about it.

Part of the value of classic cars is the nostalgic value, sure the older cars are always going to be worth more but my generation are the next ones with spare money for these things and I don't remember that many early cars around when I was young, more elfs and hornets if anything but there were loads of 70s ones around and the newer ones grew around me until the last rovers were made so those are the ones that interest me most.
