Vinyl roofs were great.  You could lob stuff on the roof without scratching it while you locked/unlocked the car.

Yes, wasn't Sue Lloyd the secretary of the editorial team of both CCC and MW? I happened to meet her on one of IMM in Silverstone or at the Mini 40. It's too long ago and I can't remember.
