hey
Just wanted to ask what the correct primer for fiberglass arches would be?
Im planning on painting my group 2 race arches black in and out, but not sure which type of primer to use., Theyre fiberglass, so Im not sure if to use a plastic primer.
Also, scotch brite/sand, primer, wet sand, paint, wet sand, clearcoat polish right?

If its still in its gelcoat coat then de grease thoroughly then de grease again!!
You need to get rid of all the mold release agent etc before you sand as you'll just move it around when you sand causing future problems at the painting stage.
Sand using 180/240 grit then fill and sand out all the deep troughs and valleys then prime.
I use epoxy primer but some people use etch primer or plastic primer, up to you really and what you can source locally.
Primer over this with high build primer then sand till you're happy its as smooth as it can be because a black top coat will show everything.
If you break through to the gelcoat while sanding remember to re prime the break through with the epoxy/etch again.
When you're happy with the primer stage wet sand with some 600 grit then top coat and clear.
This is what I do but opinions vary, and remember to wear suitable Personal Protection Equipment for sanding and painting, you know it makes sense

Wipe it down with degreaser, do it again, lets do it a third time just to be a bit paranoid and sure.
Before you spray with primer, use a adhesion promoter. U-POL make a good one.
