I had visited Longbridge during the '90's on business.

It was very, very dated back then!

I gave up doing business with Longbridge in the 1980's.

They didn't want to pay a sensible commercial price for the services we offered, then when a job was done it took 180 days plus to get paid.

Compared to dealing with Ford and GM they were a complete nightmare to do business with, so I stopped trying. In fact, my final words to them, when they told me we couldn't reach agreement on a job they needed doing because my price was too high (in fact it was a very fair price) was that we would reach total agreement. We would agree that they wouldn't pay a fair commercial price and my company was not an effing registered charity! Exit stage left!!

Haha, yep that sounds like Rover!

Automotive industry is all about the price, but there has got to be a line somewhere.

I did a great deal of work for both Ford and GM and they were willing to pay a fair price for a professional job.

BLMC, Austin-Rover, Rover Group, or whatever they were calling themselves at the time were never prepared to pay a fair price except when I was dealing with Cowley where a former boss of mine from ICI was in charge, then I got a fair price for each job. He son left though and things went downhill.

If you are only prepared to pay below the market rate, you just get the 'cowboys' doing the work, and that is what happened.

I visited longbridge back in 1999 when i was looking for a new mini. The place just seemed like it wasn't on par with other companies at all. The most interesting part of the whole tour was the R&D section.
