Hi all,
I recently took my mini off the road to upgrade it's cooling system. It's a 1991 mini running a 1380 engine with twin SU carbs and it was getting a little hot in traffic, so I've just replaced the water pump, thermostat, thermostat housing, fan and fan belt. It already had a fletcher alloy radiator installed.
Now all of this went fine and I excitedly started it up this evening to fill and bleed the coolant, only to find fuel absolutely gushing out of the engine bay.
Picture attached - it appears the fuel pump is the culprit, it has pools of fuel sat on it and its now continuously dripping fuel, even with the car switched off.
The car never smelt especially "petrolly" when running and was not using excessive fuel before I did the work, so is this a case of just replacing the fuel pump, or should I be looking at anything else which could have caused this very sudden and catastrophic failure?
Any advice would be much appreciated.
Thanks.
