Morning all.

Hello, I would like to know what you think of the Falken Sincera SN-807 in measure 145/80 / R10 since I am hesitating to mount the measure 145 or 165 on JBW 4.5 minilite rims. I do not have wheelarches fitted and I believe that 165's will be very close to the edge of fender.

Regards.

I have the same JBW wheels (cooper s offset +32) and with 165 Yokohama tyres, they fit nicely (no wheel arch extensions). No spacers, but rear drums with in-built spacer. Converted Cooper S disc set up at the front.

Thank you. I've the same setup (1275GT disk brakes and rear drums), so i'll install the 165 A008 Yokos.

My clubman estate had to be fitted with 145/80/10 Falken due to the 165s catching the shockers on the back. The car had standard drums on the rear with spacers(1.5 inch I think). I don't drive it hard anyway so it's good enough for me ?

Mine are the 4.5 cooper rims

The wheels are ET 35 offset 4.5*10

Same size and offset as mine then. Maybe I'm not going round corners fast enough!

I think my car has had very poorly fitted inner wheel arches on the rear

Hi,

You could put the thin spacer on the back? I've got some steel ones which I think were factory fit on sportspacks?

We have tried another inch spacer but can't source the correct length of studs for 2 1/2 inches from the hub

I suppose I could but we have the Sincera tyres and to be honest the car doesn't get thrashed

Edit spelling ?

I find the Falken Sincera SN-807 work well on standard 4.5 Cooper S rims.

But need to set the front wheel camber slightly negative to get decent cornering.

My estate has this set up, I don't know what the camber is set at but it drives good

The best handling (as opposed to out-and-out road-holding) is with a 145 section tyre. That is the width for which the car was originally designed and at which the suspension geometry is most accurate.

The other advantage is that wheel arch extensions are not necessary

I drove a late 1275 on Falken 145 section tyres a while back and it drove just the way a Mini should drive In fact, it felt great to drive briskly.

Sure, a 'grippy' Yoko (say a 008) will give higher cornering G, but with the narrow tyres the overall feel is better.
