Sorry to hear of Sabre theft, but the grp work, including the bonnet, should not be too daunting. as has already been said , plug making just needs a bit of time and anything that can be used to create what you have in mind. a bit of lateral thinking and a few coats of durabuild {the only bigish expense] FOR THE FINAL SURFACE and you're ready for mould taking.
I have recently modified the rear section of my Nimbus and the cost for plug making and mould was less than £100, lots of elbow grease though, but matched by a great dolop of satisfaction.
good luck Ian

If it has compound curves it may even have started out as a cut down bonnet off a production car. Though, even if you could find out which, it could be as difficult to find one.
Nimbus, by any chance are those side scoop intakes 110mm diameter?
.... having Googled up some Sabre photos I think I'd build a plug on the car. Cut some hardboard triangles/trapezoids as the side pieces and tape them in place, using bits of hardboard to space the panel gaps. Get the free side of one to a good profile and copy it on to some timber to cut a pair of stiffeners together. Tack them to the underneath of both sides and cut the centre section from more hardboard along with strips to raise the edges to the required height. Use aluminium tank tape to stick it all together and lay up a couple of layers of csm. You can recycle all the bits you've already cut to stiffen the back of the mould and fill 'n sand the face side to blend radii . Make your initial mould bigger than the bonnet and you can use more strips of board to make panel returns.

I’ve spoken to a well known grp body specialist locally about this issue..
To make the plug, make a mould and produce a bonnet with me keeping said mould he quoted £1600.
That's about right for a "Local specialist" I probably mis-read your earlier post, but I thought you mentioned you were okay with grp work, shop around for material cost, you don't need Lloyds approved materials for plug making, picking up on another reply, any oversized bonnet will probably give you enough of a compound curve with a great finish and will just require edge flanges and a few minor mods for mastercylinder bulges etc. grab a sheet of cardboard trimmed to the correct size and have a wander round the local scrappy for something suitable.
good luck, Ian

LOL Yep you must have spotted the plastic drain pipe I used on the plug.

Regarding other Sabres, I think that Wil_h on turbominis forum did, or still has, a roadgoing Sabre Sprint, he lives in Yorkshire. It might be worth posting on Turbominis to try and make contact.
good luck, Ian

I think the car in question is the one will had years ago. Been through several hands since.
Thanks for the update, haven't seen Will for a couple of years.
Cheers, Ian
