That’s a good point about it being a factory option...

My car has just had a new front and a set of door skins so I’m trying to work out the best order of doing things. Seems that it might be easier to get the car painted and then fit it (risking the installer marking the new paint) or I risk my painter getting overspray or messing up the roof. Not sure which is highest or lowest probability.

If anyone has a pic of what the factory switchgear looks like that would be great. Presume it’s just a Rover black plastic switch held in a housing above the rear mirror?

I'd have the roof cut and the frame installed, then painted, then fabric fitted. The fitter will be careful not to mark your paint, or else be responsible for repainting it!

I had one in my Scimitar and mother had one in her MGB GT.  They were nice but recovered them due to splits in the corners.

I have a dealer fitted one (fitted as an option by the dealer who sold the car). It does look nice but isn't really practical. The noise is an issue on the motorway (don't bother trying to have a conversation with your passenger.)

Doesn't leak but you have to be careful when washing the car. My biggest concern is that is makes a car that easy to steal REALLY easy to steal.

I would'nt have chosen to add the sunroof if it didn't have one when I bought it.

I think they look great. Next mini I buy will have a full sun roof. Has to be a black roof though. Those white, vinyl ones look cack. Imo

This is what happened to mine. Parked outside my mother in laws house about 5 years ago. I think it was joy riders because they tried the door first then slashed the sun roof. Luckily they didnt get away with it, and a neighbour made me aware in the morning.
