I suppose I ought to get the running gear cleaned up and painted next.

After de-greasing and stripping the running gear, I cleaned off the rust and prepped them.

Then hung it in the booth and applied etch primer

thanks Ben

i'd like to say that looks great, but it doesn't; those wheels are shocking.  just as well they won't be staying on it for too long...

i'm going to have to put the headlights in when it some back - something very sad about a mini without headlights...

smart work on the running gear though !

Cheers Pat.

Although the running gear is assembled, I have not torqued up anything on the front as you are going to need to remove the hubs to fit the driveshafts once you have the engine in.

There is also quite a few nuts and bolts that I have cleaned up and reused but would benefit from being replaced if you are so inclined

I will torque up and grease the back end as you only need to fit the brakes there so it won't need to come apart.

I'm going to fit the door seals, glass and steering column tomorrow but I need to do some maintenance work to the workshop in the afternoon which can't be put off any longer.

Ill leave the flat/polish of the paintwork until we have arranged a collection date so that it's all freshly done.

Are you collecting or am I sending it to you?

Cheers

Ben

Hi Ben

that's fine thanks, and don't worry about torquing up the back end - i've a feeling one of the radius arm grease tubes is split (..seemed to take an awful lot of grease  :ohno: ), and as i've managed to get hold of steel ones, i'll be replacing them, and any manky fasteners along the way.

you were sending it back to me, as i recall

one other thing (from when you were doing the GT i think); did you get any chrome side trim for it ?

cheers

Pat

Ok, that's fine. Ill leave it all as is for you then.

I have the chrome side trims ready to go. I have just been waiting to get it rolling as I like to fit them in the spray booth with the heat on so that they go on smoothly without kinking.

I shall probably wait until the polishing is done first though.

Ill get in touch with Mick who picked it up and see what his scheduled is like and then we can get it sorted out for you.

I shall be taking a long awaited holiday on the week beginning 15th July so hope to complete before then.

Cheers

Ben
