Im thinking about swapping my cones with a set of Protech coil overs. Has any one tried these? Do you need to run anti roll bars? Can the damper mounts handle the whole suspension loadings?

there is so much wrong with the coil over kits. front and rear.
if you want a better ride fit new rubber donuts. if you want to lower it fit hilows.

^^^ basically says it all,
coil overs can work, but it needs to be a properly sorted solution, personally Ive not had a lot to do with them, but a guy I know of hill climbs and held a few class records, he says its not even worth looking at the small diamater coil overs, go straight for th 2.25" ones as they damping works so much better, in which case your looking at developing it from the ground up to get it to fit.

Abingdon tried adding shock-absorbers on a Hydrolastic works rally car.
The drivers reported that the only times that they could detect an improvement in the handling, was when they were airborne.
Apparently, just for the hell of it, they removed the shocks from a dry car, and the drivers dryly came back with the same comment.
This wasn't done in a rally, but it was over special stages where driving is "All arms and legs".
It emphasised that steel springs need damping, whereas rubber (although waterproof, Lol) is self damping.

What do you hope to achieve and why do you think coil-overs will do it?

I'm in for a whole set of dampers as the Gaz ones are shot already (They haven't even done a couple thousand miles) . Just thought coil overs could be a good upgrade but was concerned about the extra loadings. Thanks for your replies I will stick to the rubber cones as they arent that old and just get a new set of dampers.
