Last night I had a conversation with a friend of mine and on the off chance asked him if he had a spare 1275 engine and gearbox. He said yes. I then explained why I needed them and he offered to pick my car up on his lorry, drive it to his garage that has facilities, take out my current engine and gearbox, fit the new engine and gearbox and drive it back to mine all for a good price. The mini gets picked up friday and stored in his garage until the weekend of 21st october when he will be working on it. The engine has 32,000 miles on it and is from an mg metro with matching gearbox.

So thats a 1275 engine and gearbox found, thats going to be fitted for me, for a price I can afford. So, I'll have my mini back on the road in a couple of weeks time B)

if i were you dom i would ask if you could help fit the engine and box

this is the best way to learn about working on your car and could save you a bit of money next time

I agree with Bungle it would give you a great insight to see how to change the engine and box and after seeing it a couple of times, you will probably find it quite simple!
